You're certainly entitled to your opinion, negative as it may be, but it would help if you expanded on your expectations. The pitch is that the V was built with continuous community feedback and will be sold direct to customers. What could Eve have done in the OS space to satisfy you?
I kind of understand where you're coming from regarding wastefulness. I'd love first-class Linux support — the more options the merrier — but to follow on from @pauliunas, open source builds what open source needs, and currently there is limited demand for touch/tablet support in that ecosystem. It is hard for a small startup to change that culture. FWIW, Windows has supported tablet PCs from the early 2000s through to the modern 2-in-1, and its support lifecycle is no slouch compared to competitors.
As for macOS, you're free to buy into a single-vendor ecosystem and its benefits, but it should be obvious that third-party disruption is out of the picture.
