Let me tell you everything I know about the V pen!
This will be a little long. If you want a easier to understand summary, read the Pen part in the Overview (here)
The V Pen has two customizable buttons and senses 1024 levels of pressure. It attaches with a clip to the keyboard or your pocket, or magnetically to right side of Eve V.
The V pen works perfectly with Windows Ink. Its also compatible with Surface 3, Surface Pro 3 and 4 because they share the same core Technology. However its specifically optimized for Eve V.
The V pen uses N-TRIG technology:
Israeli company N-TRIG has developed the protocol our pen uses. It is the same technology that Surface Pen uses and is also based on active-electro-static power delivery. Comparable technology is Wacom AES.
Does the V pen have batteries?
Because of the active electro static power delivery, the pen doesn't need charging. It draws power directly from the touch interface. Even though Surface Pen also uses the same method to power the pen communications with the touch integrated circuit, it has a battery for the Bluetooth function.
How does the pen perform?
The performance of the V Pen is highly comparable to the latest Surface Pen.
Does the pen have an eraser?
Unfortunately that technology was not available for us yet. However you can purchase Surface Pen, which also works with the Eve V. Surface Pen might not be 100% as accurate, as we specifically optimize the V Pen for Eve V.
Bluetooth button function:
The Bluetooth button operated function to launch an application is something we didn’t see much value and was not brought up during the Project Pyramid Flipper (http://eve.community project that resulted in the Eve V). However we can still change the design of the pen before the first deliveries.
The reason for this is that the pen would become more expensive (Bluetooth license costs, R&D costs etc). If you’d like to see this function, please start a discussion and a vote
I hope this answers your questions.
