One common pricing strategies for large manufacturers, is that they charge a fortune for extra memory - ram/storage/ssd.
For example, MS's current web store pricing for the SP4:
- $1299 : 8GB/256GB
- $1499 : 16GB/256GB
- $1699 : 8GB/512GB
- $1899 : 16GB/512GB
That's $200 for 8 -> 16 GB ram, and $400 for a 256GB -> 512GB upgrade.
A quick check at NewEgg, the most expensive 16GB single module DDR3L costs around $200, so that's technically a ripoff.
As for SSDs, many reasonably expensive M.2 512GB SSD costs around $400, so again a ripoff.
Don't remind me of Apple's pricing.
If Eve competes by price, higher spec models could easily out-price the competition...
