@Tirigon your correct stop plate is a private company ( that I have 0 affiliation with).
What I am proposing could take on one of two forms
A) EVE could partner with stop plate or similar company
B) EVE could easily reproduce a similar concept without to much effort ( its really just thick metal stickers//super strong 3M Epoxy) & maybe a laser in our case
Stop Plate does handle the return of the unit, The sticker/service is rather self explainable when it comes to "recovery"..Ie it says "stolen" and tells you how to reach the company...I think any police officer can understand that perhaps having the word stole in multiple languages would help ?
What I was referring to in my prior response was the question of how would the company know if the device was stolen ...I was simply suggesting that when one has something as important one would generally file a police report for insurance purposes or notify a company to deactivate a cell or credit card .
My local police does allow you to register Serial#'s of cars/computers/bikes etc as an optional "public service"
As far as I know the company coverage is "world wide" (toll free phone # /email ) but I have seen the product in use in both Canada & USA ....
